Our philosophy

Your portal to in-depth, evidence-based nutritional knowledge

Building partnership in nutritional health.

The motto ‘Building partnerships in nutritional health’ captures the philosophy of NutriDesk.com.au in a ‘nutshell’.

Information on this site is of a general nature only. To apply any and all information from this website to you, an individual; who has highly specific needs and possible restrictions, or even contraindications, you need to do some research first. The ‘My Research’ tab on the home page is a portal to a wealth of nutrition based information. Gather as much relevant information from this portal as you can using your current or past medical history, and importantly, your family history to guide your queries. Then seek the advice of a professional to test your understanding and assumptions. Your general practitioner [GP] is a great place to start. Your GP will assess this information from a medical perspective, and depending on their training, may refer you to a specialist or a trusted accredited practicing dietitian [APD], or a natural health practitioner with credentials from a recognized tertiary educational institution, for thorough assessment of suggested nutritional or nutraceutical options.

Your general practitioner will have their own ‘GP Resources’ section as well, to assess nutrition-related queries at a professional level.

It is your absolute right as a rational individual; to seek any treatment option/s you feel will be of benefit to you. It is also your right to refuse any option presented to you. Yet, most importantly, it is your right to explore critical dietary or nutraceutical options in your quest for personal health. NutriDesk.com.au provides nutritional information with the best of intentions; however, the onus is on you to ensure that this well intentioned information is suitable for you! Your research should concentrate on areas of concern to you. ‘Red flags’ in your family history may be a good guide in this regard. Risk vs. benefit analysis from personal genomics [personal genetic studies] is a new and developing area of medicine with tremendous potential for use in personalized medicine. This is an area of investigation you may wish to explore. Numerous labs now offer genetic testing. Simply click on the ‘Nutrigenomics’ tab found on the home page for more information.

Building Partnerships

The graphic opposite very cleverly suggests that partnerships can help put the pieces of a clinical puzzle together. See yourself as a team player in a partnership or team game, where the goal of the game is to find a safe and effective nutritional or nutraceutical option [or both] for you.

Never self-diagnose, never self-treat and never modify or stop any medical treatment without medical consent!

Always seek professional advice before acting on any information you obtain from this website with regard to any clinical information you gather from nutridesk.com.au.

Ultimately the decision to use any, medical, surgical, pharmaceutical or nutritional/nutraceutical intervention is a personal one based on weighing up the ‘pros or cons’ of any option.

Too often important and often critical nutritional modalities that can be used effectively in disease prevention or disease modification are ignored and unexplored options. NutriDesk is a gateway that opens up an important world of nutritional options for many disease states and provides the basis for valuable dialogue between you and your medical practitioner. NutriDesk will no doubt be seen as the beginning of an important personal journey towards health.

The journey and decision making process is that much easier when trusted partnerships are involved.

Wishing you great success in your search for health and happiness.
