Heat Shock Proteins [HSPs]

Heat Shock Proteins

AKA 'Stress Proteins' 'Chaperones'

Heat Shock Proteins [HSP] are increased in cells due to physiological and cellular stressors such as temperature. They are functionally related and are named according to their molecular weights such as Hsp70, Hsp90 etc.

They are expressed in virtually all living organisms from bacteria to humans and their expression in cells is transcriptionally regulated.

These proteins are a relatively new finding with exciting discoveries being made about the function of these proteins at a rapid rate.

This NutriDesk tutorial provides an overview of these proteins and provides you with a basic understanding of these important players in human health.
